A VISIT TO RASHTRAPATI BHAWAN

Rashtrapati Bhawan , the 160 roomed residence of the first citizen of India is a wonder on the earth !!

We got the privilege to visit this exquisite place on 5th of May, 2010. Our journey began at
8:30 a.m. by the school bus.
The imposing
Presidencial Palace is located at Raisina Hill, overlooking the Rajpath. We reached at 10 a.m. and were welcomed by a high security check. A guide was appointed for our group of 103 students and 4 teachers.

We proceeded towards the marble museum and walked through the portals of then president house. We entered the golden hall and glared at the statues of King George V and Queen Mary without a blink!! The oil portraits of former Viceroys, the silver chair and the brass replica of the British crown were really eye catching!
The magnificent building is flanked by the splendid towers and cupolas. Our next destination was the Kitchen museum where the cutlery of the Jodha-Akbar era was preserved. The Ashoka Hall, the oath taking place of the cabinet ministers comprises the finely proportioned Prussian architecture.
The dining hall comprised a big dining table and with 70 chairs around and the gift gallery was bejewelled with the artefacts and various presents given to the Presidents so far.

At last, we visited the heart of the bhawan ‘the mughal garden’. It is a huge, landscaped and evergreen garden ornamented with colourful flowers and umbrella cut trees.

This visit has carved an everlasting imprint on our minds and had been quite informative and reviving.

Hope for an other visit soon!!
